Need to change the ignition systems in a hurry?  The old method of clamping makes this a labor intensive process.   Using a FRENCH CLAMP, a racer can install his spare ignition in just 90 seconds and the timing will be within 1 degree of the desired timing.  This feature makes the FRENCH CLAMP a must have item.  Once an engine is properly timed using a FRENCH CLAMP, the ignition can be removed and reinstalled with no re-timing necessary.

Engine builders and Racers have wished for a means to allow vertical adjustment for proper gear alignment.   Whenever a tall deck block, angle milled heads or a different manifold is used, the ignition drive gear is usually not centered on the cam gear.  The resulting compromise is not good for the gear alignment or timing.  The patented mechanism of the FRENCH CLAMP allows an engine builder or racer to use just one ignition to exactly fit any head, block and manifold combination.  Racers can cut their spare ignition inventory drastically.
